Artist Spotlight: Genevieve Gorder
I knew I had to spotlight one of my favorite designers Genevieve Gorder, because she was one of the first Interior Designers I saw on TV when she hosted Trading Spaces. I loved how spunky and creative she was, and she solved a lot of design problems with her own do-it-yourself methods. She made the world of Interior Design seem more approachable and less scary. I loved her creative process and how real of a person she was, and ever since seeing her on Trading Spaces I knew I wanted to step into the world of design.
Genevieve founded the Genevieve Gorder brand, and her prints and patterns resonate so much with my design style. I love how bold and unique her fabrics and wallpapers are. They are perfect to use for statement pieces in a space.

Besides being an Interior Designer and a home product designer, Genevieve Gorder has also been a television host and producer, an author, and a global ambassador for home and human rights.
What I love about her most is that she uses her design career to fight global poverty, focusing on the home. That inspires me to use my creative talents to work on projects that tend to the less fortunate. That is a huge reason I chose to pursue Interior Design. I saw an opportunity to be an artist and also help spread the knowledge of sustainable design, and be able to use my talents to create functional spaces for those who need it most.
I definitely have Genevieve Gorder to thank for inspiring me to be a designer. You can tell that she loves her job because she has so much spirit and drive towards her projects. I love waking up in the morning knowing I get to do what I love, and I hope to hold onto that spirit my whole life. Check out Genevieve's website at www.genevievegorder.com
